Anything You Want is a folk-rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the summer of 2024, lightning struck the earth, an angel wept, and Anything You Want was born. At their shows, you’ll find yourself swept away by addictive riffs, otherworldly vocals, and infectious energy. Their sound is hard to pin down in one spot, but it pays a loving homage to American folk, British pop, and vintage textures. The foursome’s magnetic chemistry and shared influences have shaped a unique sound that draws a die-hard audience in the Twin Cities and beyond.

After a whirlwind first year of playing together, the band released their debut self-titled album, written by lead singer Lena Simon, to a warm local reception in 2025. Their sights are set even higher for their second album, which is being co-written by all band members, and which is in development at a leisurely DIY pace, with lead guitarist Aaron Goar doubling as the band’s producer. Much of the band’s sound is owed to his creative intuition and sharp ear for punchy compositions.
Notable new tracks What If! and Anna’s Lullaby include lyrics by drummer Anna Villalon and were composed through collaborative jam sessions. Bassist Nolan Juusola, who impressively re-learned to play bass left-handed to surmount a chronic injury from a poorly healed broken finger bone, contributes the band’s grungiest sound with his original composition The Soul.
While the newer tracks steer the rudder towards rock n’ roll, lead singer Lena Simon’s introspective lyrics, potent melodies, and warm acoustic tones still speak to her folk music roots, and continue to be well-balanced by the band’s tight, explosive rhythm section and virtuosic lead guitar. It’s too soon to say for sure, but the band’s sophomore album might split “folk” and “rock” directly down the middle.
